The building and its history
The building went up in 1974 as part of the expansion of Huvudsta, when Solna grew westward. The foundations were blasted straight out of the rock, which gave the association its name and an unusually dry, stable basement level.
The façade is brown brick with recessed spandrel panels in a muted rose, a period detail typical of the early sixties. Windows were replaced in 2015, when also the roof was relaid, and the pipe replacement was completed in the summer of 2022. The association owns the land outright, so no ground rent burdens the finances.
The apartments range from 34 to 100 square metres, from one to four rooms, across four floors. The building has a lift and a shared garden at the back, sheltered from the street.

Major renovation work that has been carried out on the property.
Building and common areas
- All windows were replaced in 2015.
- The roof was re-covered with new roofing felt in 2015.
- The outdoor environment has been renovated.
- The stairwells have been renovated with new surface finishes, and new suspended ceilings with lighting.
- Partly new flooring in the corridors.
- Doors in the basement corridor have been replaced with fire-rated steel doors.
- The lift has a new car and control equipment, and the lift machinery has been serviced.

- All apartments have new surface finishes: walls and ceilings painted, new parquet flooring and stone paving in the hallways.

The major renovation programme is being concluded. The next maintenance measures will be determined once that work is complete, and the maintenance plan will be updated accordingly.
